CrossFit classes every day · CrossFit Max, Pierrefonds

What is CrossFit, and is it for me?

You don't need to be fit to start. CrossFit is a one-hour class where a coach takes a small group through strength, conditioning and skills, and every workout is adjusted to where you are today.

A coach explains the workout at the whiteboard before class.

Your first class, step by step

  1. Your coach introduces you to the group.
  2. You warm up together.
  3. You learn the movements with a light bar or a PVC pipe before you add any weight.
  4. You do the workout, fitted to you. The version on the board is the starting point; your coach adjusts the movement, the weight or the reps.
  5. You write down your score. It's your starting line, not a comparison.

You're not competing against other people, you're actually competing against yourself.
The CrossFit Max PodcastBiggest Misconceptions about CrossFit

The workout is the same; your version is yours

Everyone does the same session. What changes is the load, the speed and the number of reps, and you choose the weight on your bar.

You build strength, not size

Getting big takes eating a lot more and training for it on purpose. In a class, you're building strength and fitness.

Show up, and let your coach set the pace

It's hard work, and it rewards showing up. Going too heavy too soon is how people get hurt, so your coach sets the pace: good movement first, then weight, then speed.
