Talk to a coach first

Is it for you?

Yes, even if you're out of shape. Everyone does the same kinds of movements. What changes is the load, the speed and the volume, and every class is scaled to where you are today.

How a class runs

A coach explains the day's workout at the whiteboard.
  1. The whiteboard, about 3 minutes.Today's workout and what it's for.
  2. Warm-up, about 10 minutes.Gets your body ready for the work.
  3. Movement practice. You practise today's movements, the coach checks your form and sets your version of the workout.
  4. The workout.Everyone does the same workout, at their own level.
  5. Cool-down, about 10 minutes. You recover, and your result gets written down.

The method

  • Movements, not muscles.Squatting, lifting from the floor, pressing overhead, pulling and carrying: the patterns daily life and sport are made of.
  • Fitness means being ready for anything.More work across short efforts, long efforts and every kind of movement, not one number on one test.
  • Variety on purpose.Loads, distances, reps, durations and equipment change, so there are no weak spots.
  • Mechanics first, then consistency, then intensity. You earn speed and load by moving well, every time.
  • Fundamentals, done well.Real time goes into the basics. Advanced movements come after the foundations are solid.
  • Results get recorded.Times, loads and reps are written down, so progress is something you can see.

Questions

I'm out of shape. Is this for me?

Yes. Everyone does the same kinds of movements; what changes is the load, the speed and the volume. A beginner and an experienced athlete need the same things in different amounts, and every session is scaled to where you are today.

What does a class look like?

About an hour: a warm-up built for the movements of the day, strength or skill work, the workout itself, then a cool-down. The coach explains the goal of the session at the start, corrects form during the work, and your result gets recorded at the end.

Why do the workouts change so often?

Because the body stops adapting to routine. Training the same way every day makes you good at one thing and weak at everything around it. Changing loads, distances, reps, durations and equipment keeps you adapting and ready for demands you can't predict.

Is it cardio or strength training?

Both, on purpose. Short, hard efforts build strength, speed and power and still improve conditioning. Programming runs across short, medium and long efforts so no system gets neglected.

Is it safe?

Risk is managed with a fixed order: mechanics first, then consistency, then intensity. Speed and load are added only once a movement is right and repeatable, every session is scaled, and form is corrected in real time. Like any physical training, it carries some risk; the coaching is there to keep it low.

I can't do a pull-up or a full push-up. Can I still train?

Yes. Those are the two most common places beginners use a different version: ring rows, assisted or jumping pull-ups, push-ups from the knees or against a wall. You train the same pattern at a level you can move through.

How often should I train?

Hard days work best in short blocks with rest built in: commonly three days on and one day off, or five days on with the weekend off. Rest is part of the program, not a gap in it.
